This is a portfolio gallery of design work for the Science Fiction-Gothic-Fantasy series Sanctuary. Sanctuary has now finished its 4th season on the Sci-Fi Channel.
The series pilot was shot in Vancouver using an amount of computer generated imagery (CGI) unprecedented for a fledgling project. Most of the “sets” were thus designed and built on the computer, which entailed instructing a crew of young computer modellers on the fine points of Gothic architecture and Victorian detailing.
The show centers on Dr.Helen Magnus, a 157-year-old teratologist (monster expert) and her team of experts who run the Sanctuary, an organization that seeks out extraordinarily-powerful creatures and people, known as Abnormals, and tries to help and learn from them, while also having to contain the more dangerous ones.
