For the Dutch Navy Museum in Den Helder we created a kind of memorial display for a bit of neglected, but no less glorious, history. In cooperation with the Technical University in Delft the Navy Museum aspired to tell the story of a famous moment of synergy between the Dutch fleet and scientific progress, when the submarine K XVIII hosted the scientific expedition of Venning Meijnesz on a voyage of 23,000 kilometers from Den Helder to Surabaya, Indonesia. The goal was to test new equipment for measuring the earth’s gravitational field. Our result in the museum is the liberal reproduction of a now vanished stained glass window memorializing the event. There are video inserts in the panels and glass cases on the reverse.

Studio Louter conducted the project, created the multimedia, and directed the historical research.
